Throughout the years, different genres of music seem to both increase and decrease in popularity. A few years ago Country music was huge, but now you see people leaning towards Pop music, with popular artists such as Justin Bieber and One Direction. Do you think that music is decreasing in quality? Or is it just getting better as time goes by?

  1. Music is indefinitely decreasing in quality. Al tough that is my personal opinion, there are facts to back it up. For example, we can look at the quitar- many older artists had amazing skills in finger picking, slides, tabs, and unique chords, but now a days basically every song could be played with simple chords( A, C, G, and D to be specific). That is if the artists even has a guitarist. I think musicians are trying to create something intense, but most of it is underground. The things on the radio today are not as skillful or crafted as older music.

  2. I think it depends on what song is it. There are some really good songs and some really bad ones too. I feel like all of them usually have a good beat but I feel like most do not have a true meaning like they used to.

  3. I think that the spirit of music is changing more than the quality. More artists now than ever use someone else's lyrics or someone else's music. They're just singing to sing. That is their talent. Fewer people are recognizing the talent that it takes to write the songs, write the music, play the instruments, and put feeling into the art of the song. Not just how it sounds. So I think that music is not decreasing in quality, it's just that the good songs aren't appreciated like they used to be, and the only songs we remember from the past are the best songs that were released.

  4. I think the quality of music is declining, with the biggest decline in the creative aspect of music. These days, a team of songwriters are hired to write hit songs for pop stars. Each top song is likely a product of studio songwriters and ghostwriters for lyrics. When these songs are written, they often don't even have an assigned artist yet. For example, the hit song "Umbrella" was originally intended to be recorded by Brittany Spears, but she turned it down and it became a huge success for Rhinanna. I think music is being controlled by record labels and not by artists and it's quite saddening.
